    Great article (and blog in general). As an ex-Partition Magic user who now uses a Linux based rescue CD for all my disk partitioning, reorganization and rescue work, I wholeheartedly agree with you about not needing to pay for disk partitioning software anymore.

    If you are interested in other rescue disks I would recommend SystemRescueCd (at http://www.sysresccd.org/) – I am not affiliated in anyway, just a fan. I have a dedicated small partition on my laptop that boots SystemRescueCd so I have it available all the time in the event I am traveling without a rescue disk or CD/DVD drive. I use that same partition as my main grub boot loader and then chain load grub in my Ubuntu partition (and also used to chain load Windows in another partition back when I was dual-booting).
