For what it’s worth, I wasn’t trying to compare Ubuntu and Fedora. If anything, the comparison should be with Debian or variants like Linux Mint. From point of view of user friendliness, I could see Mandriva and openSUSE earning a mention too. As for Fedora, I was indicating only that it might be where my attentions drifted if I stopped being an Ubuntu user.

Why is it that when someone is trying to say Ubuntu is not really as bad as it seems they invariably compare it to Fedora. Fedora is a cutting edge testing distro and as such is in perpetual beta and is really not the distro that should be used as a benchmark for user friendliness. Especially not for new users to Linux.
